Interactive Music and Motion Machine

'SCIENTIST IN RESIDENCE'
at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts

Ten Week Hands-on Workshop
Instructor: Robert Porter, Ph.D. With Bruce Shapiro, M.D.

Build a music and motion 'seeing' machine that will make for dramatic and dynamic interaction between the dancers and the self-generated music. No experience necessary, just interest and enthusiasm. The participants will learn about materials, electronics, light, sound, sensors, the use of an oscilloscope, and more. When this interactive electronic sculpture is completed the fun begins again when the collaboration with a local dance troupe creates a new performance. Participants will be able to install, operate, explain, train and troubleshoot on a working interactive motion and music machine – the electronic sculpture.
